Well this is more or less a retoric question.
Yes, we all now tha twe must do it in advance, but in the practicall, do you do it? For all, every time?
Yesterday i went with my brother rock band to a place to do some promotional photos for them. U've done this before for them , and they have a new guy and they wanted a promotional photo with all of them.
So I knew that they wanted a different look than before, a more "urban" as they said look.
But I was a bit kept in the dark regarding the place, the cloth, the style... more or less everything. So I was a bit lost, and did loose a lot of time to get in to their mood and the photos they where looking for.
So in practice... Do you always plan in advance your photo sessions? What kind of details do you plan? Do you always do it?
just curious...

I try to cover all the basics that you mention when I agree to do the shoot. That way, I can get the juices flowing beforehand and picture the shot that I want to get and how to accomplish it. But, it's inevitable that something like this will come up, whether it's a last minute shoot or other. If they want a particular look or mood to a photo, I might even ask them to show me an example from a magazine or something to get an idea what they really want. It makes things run smoother in the long run. Don't be too shy when asking for details, they will appreciate it later. |
