Thanks for not copying it. My original post also had a META tag which disables the Microsoft bar from showing up on all the images. If I find something that removes any ability to copy a web page I'll add that too.
I have hosted a web site since 1995, that is before WYSIWYG and I had to type the entire HTML code myself. That is when I first found the need to protect content on the internet and also decided that anything that slows scum from stealing my content I was going to do.
I actually found someone who copied my site word for word by saving the source code. I made them remove it by contacting their service provider. The guy didn't know what hit him.
To me this subject is more about intellectual ownership and ethics then it is about downloading one image or disable right click. There must be constant vigilance and it should never be accepted that this will happen.

I had a brush with this issue last night. Some guy on a mailing list i subscribe too had posted several images with no information. When asked (by someone else), he stated that he got them off "some website". I replied at that point and stated that common courtesy required that he cite the source, and that if he didn't have permission to use the images, he shouldn't. He went off on me, and stated that he'd been doing it for years, the images didn't have a watermark or copyright symbol and were therefore not protected, and anything posted on the web was fair game. I directed him to the US copyright laws, but he was adamant that he was in the right, and i was having a "bad day". There is no combating folks like this. |

The only way to keep people from stealing your images from the internet is to keep them off the internet. |

My helpful suggestion is to limit the size of your images on the internet to 640 x like we do here at DPC.
At that size, the reporductive quality is useless and that pretty much stops it from going anywhere. The only place it could get "used" is on a website

Good Morning. Another Pea Here.. I'm floored. I remember looking at your photo's posted by her. My first thought well i will never be that good. I'm sorry this happen to you all.. Then I came over here after all this started. All of you are just well amazing, awsome. I'm speachless and that doesnt happen very often.. haha..
Anyways, I'm a mom, wife, scrapbooker, tole painting, quilter, and a wanta be photographer. My first slr is a minolta qtsi. omg its so slow drives me nuts.. My son plays football starting his freshman year. I'm so proud of him standing at 6'4 1/2. at the start of the season 1 1/2 months ago he weighted 220lbs now he is up to 249lbs.. Their practices are long now from 8am-1:00pm.. and then he coaches the lineman for miget football.. ok not that all this tibit matters.. Buy anyway, I am just starting a second job to pay for my camera I want to keep up with the action.. I'm looking at the nikon d70. I think that will be good learning curve for me. I did use of a minolta max 7000. but with no manual.. I did get some awsome pictures not know what the heck i was doing.. But i couldnt tell you what setting i had camera on. I have been reading all I can from this web site.. I cant wait till i can get the camera and actually start practing. So by next season I will be acurate at the shoots I want..
I have to tell you I did get one awsome shot during my friends softball game the girls wanted me to do a scrapbook for them each one on the team. this girl was sliding back to second, and all you can see are from her knee's down the rest is dirt flying.. I was so proud of my self..
Anyways, enough rambling. I dont want to bore anyone.. or get kicked off before I get started..
i just wanted to say everyone here is so talented. Someday I hope to take worthy enough pictures to post some on here.. And learn alot.

Just wondering if the owners of 2peas contacted any of the artists who's photos were stolen? |

I sent several rather scathing emails to the theive(s), and no, no response at all. No response from the 2Pea admins either.

We are discussing that here on this thread:

I'm really trying to help my fellow photographers out because I think this is an issue important to all of us. |

Helllooooooooo! Another PEA here!
It took me a few DAYS to figure out my way around this site and I finally popped in on page 13 of this thread and clicked on the link that said "this person" which took me to my own profile! All I can say is you guys are mean!!! You got me!!! But, like the calm, collected, not-easily-frazzled type of person that I am, I kept reading to discover it's your way of hazing newbies! Sheesh!
I look forward to hanging out here a little bit [not like I can afford to spend MORE time on my computer].
Nice to meet all of you DPCers and hello to my fellow Peas who mosied on over here too!
Now that I've sorta figured out the Forum, I have to figure out the rest of this site!
Ciao for now,
*--Debb

Welcome aboard to all the PEA members. You will find that there are quite a few characters in this site, but most of all you will encounter some of the nicest people you are apt to meet anywhere.
This is a caring, sharing and very giving community, and I am confident you will enjoy your stay here.
Have fun, go out shooting and show us your pics.
