So.... the gallery show went well yesterday.

When I first got to the gallery, I was about 15minutes early. On my way in, I heard a young man sitting outside the coffee shop with a few friends and he was playing guitar and singing. He was very very good! I went into the gallery and checked in, then I walked back outside. I stood there for a moment just listening to him play. Then without skipping a beat... I walked up to him, extended my hand and said, "Hi, my name is Lorrie. I was listening to you play and you are awesome! I'm a local photographer (gave him a card) and I would love to shoot some pictures of you playing." He looked at me, introduced himself and said that would be awesome! He started playing a song, and I snapped away. He was a great subject, and he showed such emotion when he played. When I finished snapping.... I just sat and listened. He finished his song, and I offered him a soda from the coffee shop. He looked hot, and didn't have a drink in hand. I figured it was the least I could do, since he allowed me to take his picture! We got a drink and sat outside for a bit more... just talking and him playing. I told him to shoot an email and I would let him have some of the pics. His friend told me that they were in the middle of getting Chris (the guitar player) a CD done and some play time at the local night club. He also asked for my card and said that he would love to use my pictures on the flyer for Chris's show. Not only that, but if they liked the pictures... they may want to work with me again for a CD cover and whatnot. Score! The kid also explained that he helped get shows in at the local club and may want to use my services again. Woohoo!!!!! Around 5:10 or so, I headed out and walked back into the HOT gallery!

Here is Chris playing:

I only had 2 people stop in to see me.... one of them being my brother's girlfriend. Who I love so much!!! I almost cried when I saw her walk in the door! It meant so much to me that she came! my friend Matt also stopped into see me, which was great! We had a fun time talking and being completely goofy. Hanging out with him is always fun!!! :)

I got to talk with alot of people. Alot of my fellow artists in the gallery, and people just stopping in to see the gallery. Everyone gawked and was in awe of Nightmare. I can't even tell you how many times I told the story of how I did it!!! Everyone would say, "That is interesting... I wonder how long it took to do that in Photoshop!" I would then walk up to them, shake their hand and introduce myself as the artist of that piece. When I told them how it was done, they were shocked!!! haha! It was funny to see the reactions on their faces when I told them it was done in realityand not on the computer! :)

The first hour or so there, I had the director of the gallery introduce me to a woman. She said that she was HIGHLY interested in buying Nightmare for a friend of hers. I just about fell over! I was so excited! I couldn't even believe the words. She spoke and I kinda just nodded and went along with it... thinking to myself, "WOW! This woman wants to spend $500 on a photograph that I took! One that was placed in the flower challenge at 121st place!" Yippee!!! I kept my composure until she walked away.... then I let out a little dance! I must have looked silly... but I didn't care! So, she emailed me this morning and asked for a link to show her friend the picture, just to make sure she liked it! Here's hoping! :)

I also talked to a kid that goes to college around here. He needed to interview a local artist for a paper he was doing, and he asked if he could interview me! I was like, Sure!!!! So, we sat outside and I smoked a ciggy and we chatted. He was a nice young guy. He was in Iraq in the USMC, but is home on medical leave due to his father passing away a few weeks ago. So we chatted about him as well. It was very nice.

By the end of the night... I was talked out, tired and ready to go home. I finally left about 8:30.

All in all.... it was awesome! I think I am going to start doing this more often. I met alot of great people, and handed out about 20 business cards. So maybe I can get some more business from this!! Here's hoping!

Here is me at the opening of the show. It's also 1st Thursday in Town! :)

I will also be in the paper with Nightmare. I will post a photo when I get the paper!!! :)

Congrats Lorrie!
Though it was hot, it still had to be a blast.
Besides the shocker on Nightmare, the exposure and contacts you made are money in the bank - maybe not next week, but still there.
w00t!
