Today, I read this review SB-600 review of the SB-600 and was so impressed, I bought one today.
Since I bought my camera at BestBuy, my wife's D50, and I have their RewardZone card, I got $80 in RewardZone bucks. Then I got a 10% off coupon in the mail for any camera accessories. Not too bad. I ended up paying only $144 for it.
I played around with it until my daughter started complaining about not being able to see. It's really cool, especially using it in the remote commander mode. I may get a few of them.

I am planning a trip to B&H Photo sometime this month. Stuff like that will be on the shopping list.

What version do you recommend? The "clear" or the "frosted" one?
I just looked at B&H. I would think the "frosted" version.

| frosty for ports and softer lighting, clear for when you need more light - like on a walkabout or such. I bought both :) |

Good flash...I have the 800 and can't imagine not having it! It works wonders. I especially like the "diffuser" that comes with it. I use it all the time, indoors and out!

i actually have both, and i'm glad i do... i got the sb-600 first, which was fine. if you're only going to have one, it's good to start with... but using the 800 as the commander for my 600 and a borrowed 600 was just awsome. used all three for the staged shots of the family and wedding party and now i want two more sb-600's of my own...
too much fun...
