Alright, it looks like there's a parking lot near Soldier Field and the Museum Campus. I don't know how much it costs yet, but I'm still looking into it.

I'm thinking if we met outside Soldier Field, we could spend the better part of the day hiking around the Museum campus, which includes the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium (as well as some "garden areas" according to a website).

I believe there are some public beaches around that area too if I'm remembering correctly....

I've got a 2 1/2 hr drive up to Chicago, and I know lots of you are coming from even farther away. What would be a good meeting time for everyone? I'd be up for as early as 10:30.

Also, does this sound like enough itinerary? Or should we plan more places? Or different places? I think Navy Pier wouldn't be too hard to hit from this area--we can take a WaterTaxi from the Shedd Aquarium to the Pier for $6/adult. It looks like all day parking at Soldier Field (and other nearby) lots will be $15 for the day.

Everyone come to Chicago!! Please.

I think we might be leaving Friday night after we get out of work. Probably around 1 am or so. It's about a 3 hour drive, so we're gonna try to catch a nap in the car or something after we get there. That seemed like a better idea than trying to get up early in the morning after working second shift and driving there.

Seems silly, but I'm excited, so everyone come to Chicago on Saturday. I want to meet everyone. Those of you in Iceland, leave now. lol

Someone had suggested Soldier Field, which looks good to me. There are several parking lots right around there, so it might be the best option for a "meetup" place.

Umm, I haven't been to Soldier field since about 1987....so meet in the front? There's got to be a front, right? :-)

And if you want to buy lunch for the women, I certainly won't turn that down!! ;-) Otherwise, if people are looking to save some cash, I have always loved picnics. So we could just plan to bring sandwiches and find a nice patch of grass.

I'll be in California this weekend, but maybe I'll make the next Chicago GTG. You might want to meet in front of the little snack shop by the aquarium; it's more of a unique place than Soldier Field.

This might be opening up a whole can of worms.....but....

Would more people be able to make it if we moved it to the following weekend??

Though, just to be clear, I'm still a go for this weekend even if there's only three of us. That's still enough for me to be happy :-)

Don't forget that when you hit the Indiana state line you change time zones. You wouldn't believe how many people around here don't realize that...
