I have Photoshop 4.0. Yes, it is old, but it works. I typically edit and save in PSD and when I'm done I resize, sharpen and save as a JPG using the slider to make the file as large as possible without exceeding 150kb.

I haven't noticed this before but my resulting JPG is darker than my PSD file. I'm trying to submit my next challenge photo...I like the PSD but the JPG is too dark. What can I do to fix this? I looked at the saving for web tutorial but I can't find the sRGB mode - I only have an RGB mode. Any suggestions? I could always brighten the PSD to offset the darkening effect...but it's not an optimal solution.

Go to "image->convert color profile->Apply sRGB Profile"

not sure if this will help the darkening problem....

Is your camera perhaps set to use "Adobe RGB?" If so, Photoshop is probably using that color space when you edit. Then when you save, you're just discarding the profile information, which makes it appear off. You need to convert to the SRGB profile first.
A better solution is to make sure that both the camera and Photoshop are set use sRGB color space as a default.

The only modes PS4.0 shows I can switch to are:
Grayscale, Indexed color, RGB, CMYK, Lab and multichannel

RGB is picked. I can't find an sRGB.
I'll have to check my camera settings.

That's a *sure* sign that Photoshop is not using sRGB.
