Now removed. Thanks.

You've let early voters sway you to remove "one of [your] best pictures *ever*."

That's not good. You'll miss out on other people telling you it's a good/great picture. That's a real shame...

Well, I took this picture during a workshop I attended in the week of the challenge. I had plenty of people (good photograpers) tell me it was a good photo, so I felt confident it should do well in DPC. I just did not anticipate that it should be voted down so dramatically because the DPC'ers somehow thought it did not meet the challenge.

Only Zen knows if they where right.

Well you know the saying - when the going gets tough, cut and run.

The first two days have been the worst for scores in recent weeks. One recent challenge started off under 5 and ended up scoring a 6.0000. A current entry started off at 4.8 has now climbed to 5.75, another started at 5.2 and is currently at 6.06. See a trend here? It seems that the early voters are the harshest, and a lot of people have commented on it lately. I would definitely say that pulling it inside the first 48 hours is premature for any challenge. In fact, I would venture to say that you fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is "Never start a land war in Asia", but only slightly less known is this: "The trolls vote low early on to see who they can scare out of the competition!"

Should also note that some people go through once and do a high-low sort on photos, eg 1 and 5, and then go back through later and move scores around within those groups. That's probably why scores seem to start low and then move up later. This practice probably has an inordinate amount of submitters sitting at the PC with razor blade at wrist but whatever. Lot of people are way too hung up on the points.

From my understanding (which i'm not saying is right...) i think this picture from one of your previous challenges: would qualify as Zen, but i'm not positive (hopefully nobody minds I used an example before the voting is finished, if they do feel free to remove it or let me know) :)

Well, my last entry before started around 6 and ended at 5.8, the one before (which I admit was bad) started around 4.9 and ended at 4.7.

This one started at 4.7 and was down to 4.2. I have very little confindence it would have crept above 5. Anyway both commenters said it did not meet challenge and the voting supported that.

I've submitted another shot from the workshop for action II, if that also is deemed to not fit the description (which was 'N/A' btw) then I give up.
