Spacious and content,
Without confusion from
Inner thoughts of grasping,
Effectively overcome habitual behavior
And realize the self that
Is not possessed by emotions.
Be broad-minded,
Whole, without relying
On others.

If you want to learn the Principles,
Don’t study fine bound books.
The True Pearl’s in a hemp sack
The Buddha nature rests in huts.
Many grasp the sack
But few open it.

Just don't seek from others,
Or you'll be far estranged from Self.
I now go on alone;
Everywhere I meet It:
It now is me; I now am It.
One must understand in this way
To merge with thusness.

an 8 or a 4 makes a straight. They call that a "Gut Shot" Straight |

All you have is a 9, your high card. I think you need 5 in a row for a straight. I would take another 9 for a pair.

Quoting Confucius in a Zen thread is like quoting Virgil in a Christianity thread.

Perhaps ... But a ZEN mind makes no distinction.

Yeah baby! I really thought I would get a new low score with my entry but it´s doing swell!
6.2 after 110 votes! Only 3 comments though but already a fave and a wish list too, have only once seen that before in my time here at dpc. |

I would think in a 300 entry challenge that it would be pushing it to hope for a Top 10, but I don't see a ton of high scores posted here...
BTW, was 6.59 this am, so it's dropped as well.

I think I enter zip instead of zen or maybe it's too zen and people are just falling asleep before they can move their mouse over to the 10 vote button. At least I'm getting some complimentary comments.

Better than a hundred years of mischief
is one day spent in contemplation.
Better than a hundred years of ignorance
is one day spent in reflection.
Better than a hundred years in idleness
is one day spent in determination.
Better to live one day wondering
how all things arise and pass away.
- Buddha in the Dhammapada
