I'm guessing bec people around here can't just take something for what it's worth.
@Faidoi - you should do them if you feel like it. I don't see what anyone's plm should be - if they don't want to read it, it's pretty easy to avoid a topic called "PIC OF THE DAY - XX/XX/XX" and if they can't, well then they should turn forums off or something. Not everyone wants to post about the same thing.
Do what you like. Screw em.

Mmmm.... allow me a few suggestions.
[1] Change the title of the topic: "PIC OF THE DAY" is too ambitious and possibly not correct. The site did not confer you the rights for using that title, did they? The solution is pretty easy.
Try this: "Faidoi's daily suggestion". It is effective and honest.
[2] Be ready for lots of critics and little public. It may happen or it may not. The (real) results come in the long term. If something does not work out, like today, ask yourself what went wrong and possibly correct it.
[3] If you insist and play professionally, you will provide the site a useful service and people will certainly recognize it. I felt bad when you announced to shutdown your post. It is its second day and I already miss it! =))

I've just found this thread and now it's gone? @$*)% I think I like this because if I'm right they aren't only challenge pics. I follow Zeus' thread also ( even if I am kinda quite). I like to see what other people like. Not nessesarily in challenges, after all not all good photographs happen timely, and some of them need some illegal work.
I find it hard/boring to just surf the galleries, and pods regardless of my opinion are a random sampling of work that I would probably have missed. Besides one of these days someone will stumble on one of my gems. BTW they aren't challenges( and probably aren't uploaded yet). C'mon keep it going.

Keep with it faidoi.
I think most people here really enjoy seeing a new photo up on the forums every day.

you had a nice little thing going...I liked it. I dont know what was said that caused you to drop out of your program, but what you were doing was simply adding another way for us all to enjoy this site. Like others have suggested those folks not wishing to be envolved simply need to stay away from the thread.
Reconsider My friend:)

I will chime in and say that I, too, like the pic of the day threads. I've commented on every photo so far, I think, from the pic of the day's. If they weren't featured by faidoi, I wouldn't have ever seen them. It's another way to get exposure to good photography. We don't all have to agree with faidoi or with eachother as to the quality of the shot, but the exposure is fantastic. Plus, as was said, what if one of my shots was next up to be featured? Maybe if faidoi really drops it, I'll pick it up at least a couple of times a week. |

Why not do one too even if he doesn't drop it? |

Yeah, don't drop it - not until you've chosen one of mine ;) |

Keep it up, Faido, it's an interesting activity.

Nothin beats someone who said "off with their heads!!!!" and then screams "don't go we love you"... God I have hypocracy...
To all those that beat up Faidoi for what they were trying to accomplish... reap what you sow... You have an interesting way of showing your appreciation...
Hmmmm, choose to admonish or just not post????? Hmmm, let me prove my superiority by tearing them to shreds... Makes sense... LOL...
Sorry Faidoi, some chose to prove themselves by beating others down... I liked your choices but understand your decision. Don't forget, it takes a big person to give credit to others and a small person to take it away....

Please dont get rid of the picture of the day. I really enjoy it. Yesterdays was just a tad contriversial, although I did like it.
If people pout just because THEIR picture was not chosen, well tough luck.
Great site, keep up the great work. |

faidoi, I don't think you should give up just yet! Give it a chance. Hopefully people will notice it.
I have enjoyed the photos you have posted so far.
Little suggestion that Gordon and I have talked about. Maybe tell us why you choose the picture and add some questions for people to answer. It might make for a great discussion on a photo and also help the newbies to learn more.
Keep it up or I will take over. hmmm...maybe!

Don't stop, I have enjoyed every photo of the day so far. I didn't comment on the threads because it didn't seem right to insert my opinion into what I thought was more of a personal selection. I just waited, looked, and learned what I could.
If discussion is the goal, I would be more than happy to join in. |

If I like a photo a put it on my favorite list and write some comments, but suggesting to everyone that that is the photo they should like IMO is too much!
After all we have 2-3 challenges every week! |

It might be nice to have some discussion around a specific photo along with the usual task of sifting through the challenges looking for something interesting. I think people can learn from seeing other peoples work critiqued as well. If the goal is to select one worthy of discussion, it might be interesting. Plus, we won't have to listen to the endless about how it didn't meat the challenge.... |

You don't have to like the photo to discuss it. I am saying this in the kindess way possible..aren't you the one who puts there photos in the forums and want people to comment on them? Others would like the same. I know you already make a bunch of really good comments but it would be nice to have more people involved. Just a thought.

Kind of ironic coming from someone who posts their own photos in the forum about 20x as much as anyone else, don't you think?

Nothing ironic about posting NEW photos,I don't call them "BEST photos of the day"!

After all I have 119 someones photos on my favorites list compare to yours 9.
You can't find enough good photos out of 37000 in database unless someone points to you?
Find someone else to bash and leave me alone! |

I don't keep a favorites list and I wasn't bashing you...it just seemed odd to me that you were against someone pointing out photos in the forum since you do it for your own, that's all. To me, there doesn't seem to be much difference.

Faidoi. Just wanna let ya know I support ya either way you decide, but LOVED the pod. I always tried to be the first to leave comments after you posted it and tried to bump it back to the top. I am new to the sight and feel new to photography because I realized how much I didn't really know or forgot from my youth and commenting on the pics really helped me to 'see' again.
