I will be heading to South Africa for about two weeks in the not-so-distant future and was wondering if anyone had experience purchasing travel insurance that covers personal property. I have a home-owners policy, which my equiptment is covered under, but that is only valid in the US. I do not need travel insurance that covers canceled hotels and/or plane tickets, but I just want to be able to insure my personal property. Any suggestions?

Maybe you could contact the carrier who issued the coverage for your equipment while it is in the USA, and ask them for a temporary extension to include your trip abroad. Might be the cheapest since they already have a policy in place that could be supplemented with a limited term rider agreement.
