I don't want to sound negative but as I stated before all avenues have to be investigated. Has anyone called all hospitals within an 100 mile radius to see if they have any "John Doe's" their. If he got to hot or hurt himself and is in the hospital he may not know his name. He could be in a hospital but not listed by his real name.

Just another suggestion.

Also I'm still confused why he would be sleeping in his car at 2:30 am on the 27th only 18 or so miles from his home. It would of taken him only about 30 minutes to get home. This was well after the bug bombs were set off so that can't be it.

To my knowledge, Border Patrol has been alerted...

OMG. I have been away from DPC for ages, and peeked in yesterday and saw tis thread. Steve was the person to reach out to me here at DPC. Is it true that he is missing and the authorities are involved? Was he ill at all? My prayers for him will be constant.

I know Tina has called hospitals in the Phoenix area.

I was told that Steve does NOT like to take his car into Mexico. Each time he has gone there he leaves it at the border and walks into Mexico. If this was the case then the border patrol would see his car parked there (one would think). Good idea though-keep them coming.

Being Thursday, and the weekend around the corner. Has anyone started generating a plan for more searches, on a larger scale?

Has anyone run with the idea of a HUGE seach team starting tomorrow?

Hugs to all!

I have been praying for Steve each day. Has anyone tried the U.S. Forest Service for that area, possible other areas near and other offices that may include mountains/forests near Flagstaff, Payson, Tuscon, etc.. there are alot great photographic areas throughout Az. Also, the National Park Service for places like Socorro Nat. Monument, The Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, some of the other National Monuments, etc.. just some more thoughts. Van

I have to say that the response from everyone, from DPCers and Phoenix locals has been....well....__literally amazing__.

We appreciate all the ideas people have thought of so far and we've acted on most of them. I for one appreciate all the ideas bouncing around and am thankful that such a comunity of people can come together, share ideas, share thoughts and send prayers.

Unfortunately the search still continues.

I was always told to do 110% in anything I do. My father told me that. I have seen this and more from the communities and people helping me find my dad.

Thank you DPC community.

exactly. there is always something glorious and positive, if we just take the time to look and appreciate. Let's hope.....

Also FWIW I had great cell reception the whole time we were searching.

Just hope that one of the ideas works out.

BTW...cellphone signals vary according to carriers and phone models. I get service where my friend doesn't...and we have the same carrier. Some carriers will give you a message like 'The number you are calling and travelled outside the service area..yadda yadda yadda'. His going straight to voicemail, in my experience, usually means the phone is off.

Awesome on Mexico, that makes it easier to determine where he isn't. A car left for days at the border down there would likely spawn curiosity by border patrol, and would have been discovered by now, another good sign that he's probably OK.

Keep us informed on if anyone generates plans for the search, I'll help out what I can, even if I can't be there in person.

Not really; typically, visitors to Mexico leave their cars in private, long-term parking lots. For example, when we visited Guadalajara out of my former hometown, San Diego, we left our car in a private lot at the border, took a shuttle to the Tijuana airport, and flew from there. The car was left for almost 2 weeks... This is not unusual at all.

Did anybody do something about these court orders, to try and trace his cards/last known cell phone location? Everything else is looking for a needle in a haystack. Good vibes may be OK, prayers and all, asking people to keep an eye open, but the only concrete thing we can DO right now is to trace those damned cards and the phone. Everything else is relying on someone else to always be on the watch.

Agree!!!! I don't understand what is taking so long. Those need to be checked and soon. Before the weekend gets here. Even if he had cash on him and he has been missing since July 23rd it would be out of cash by now based on what people normally take with them. Even using it sparingly I would say he would use atleast $25 a day and that adds up to $300 by now.

I'm planning on spending the night in the area his car was spotted tomorrow night hoping he'll return. Other then that no big search plans for the weekend yet as we have no clue where to search. Good thought though as we should probably set a plan. He could be anywhere though.

We're following up on and considering every thought, tip and idea we hear. Many of the ideas posted here have been considered and looked into, thanks for all the input. A lot of people are working really hard to find him, we will find him and it will be a happy ending.

Steve is an adult and has the right to be missing, it's difficult to get into his records as you have to prove several things. They are working on it though.

How far away is where he was last spotted from tuscon?

Has anyone of the family members reported his missing to the National Center for Missing Adults

O, Candy, Iva, Tina,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Dave attend college in Tuscon? Do you know if he still has any contacts at the university or with old college buddies?

Just a thought,

Jennifer

Sorry, some of us in Oregon call Steve 'DAVE,' it's a nickname one of his kids came up with many years ago. I won't use it again as that may be really confusing.

Hi Jennifer - Yes I believe that he did attend college in Tuscon - His scholarship was in track - and that is a good idea - i have to keep thinking positive.

I thought of something look into, as I haven't been aware of any information on this.

Does Steve own a house? Does anyone know if it's paid off, if in fact he does? And is there a way to find out when he made his last mortgage payment, if it hasn't been paid off? I mean, he'd need to pay it.

Just a thought.

Is anyone else having a problem with getting onto Steve's myspace.com page? It keeps shutting down my internet. This rarely happens to me. I wonder if it is myspace that has the problem.

Still praying!

Looks like there is a lot going on in the Mesa area lately.

Guardian Angels to patrol in Mesa
10:00 AM Mountain Standard Time on Tuesday, August 1, 2006
The Associated Press
PHOENIX -- The head of the Guardian Angels says the volunteer group -- which already is patrolling in east Phoenix -- will begin patrolling in Mesa Tuesday night.
The move comes in response to Sunday night's fatal shooting of a woman while she was out walking.
Police are investigating whether the killing of 22-year-old Robin Blasnek is linked to the Serial Shooter, who has fatally shot five people and wounded 17 others in metro Phoenix since May 2005.
One of the survivors was a bicyclist who was shot a week earlier a mile and a-half from the scene of Sunday's shooting.
Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa says 12 members of the beret-wearing volunteer group will begin foot and car patrols near Edison Elementary School (at University and Horne). The school is where an estimated 600 Mesa residents gathered for a community meeting to hear from police last night.
