At the suggestion of Elsapo on this image , I thought I'd try my first shot at adding a texture. The only texture I could come up with on my laptop is horse hair so that's what I used. No idea really what I was doing either - Any comments, too much, not enough, good, bad, indifferent??? Thanks!

How do you do this? Photoshop 7.

Its a really cool effect, I like it. I like your second photo better, but it seems a little under processed. <---i don't hear that too often, but I think I would like it better, maybe, if it was done up just a little more. (not enough)

Also, I don't like the way the effect bleeds into the black. I'll bet an eraser would fix that right up, if you wanted it that way of course. Still very cool, I love the direction your heading in with mood/tone.

Thanks - I wasn't sure about it being on the black either. What I did, and I'm sure there's probably an easier way - opened up the flower, made a new layer and copied and pasted the horse hair into the new layer. From there I changed the opacity and mode (hard light maybe) of the horse hair layer until I got it like I wanted, then used the brush tool the erase the areas I didn't want it showing on. Make sense?
