just thought i would thank all the voters and commenters on my lines entry. thanks !

i also thought i would share the story of the entry. it was sort of fate, happening across the inchworm. i have had too much crappy stuff going on lately to tap into my creative side much. so on my day off - challenge deadline day - having no ideas for the challenge despite trying to think of something 'good'. i'm reading 'outdoor photographer', and i get up to get a beer. i come back, and there on the magazine is the inchworm, and i say 'hmm inchworm, macro, graph paper' to Fuego who agreed it was worth a shot. so i shoot a round on the porch, and wasn't happy with the lighting. i bring him outside to the pic-nic table ( sunlight ), and shoot a half dozen more. was happy with those results, so i edited two of them. entered and woke up to a nice score. they move quite fast at high magnification, i moved the paper to keep him in the viewfinder and try to get him to line up with the lines on the paper.

so sunday i decide i should put the new 120gig HD i bought a month ago into the computer seeing as i had only 4gig left on the current drive. well despite my computer aptitude the damn thing was nothing but trouble for three days there after. on top of that i didn't know if i had lost all the data that hadn't been backed up. the current entry included. DAMN !.

after an almost all nighter of fussing, cursing, jabbing, bulling, and spitting at my machine i managed to get my old drive to load the OS and not keep restarting. i immediately submitted my original file for validation in case of further catastrophic electronic troubles, and began backing up all the stuff that hadn't been.

and now that the stress is over - i think i'll go ahead and start installing all the software once again...

oh and BTW a bad bit of RAM seems to have been the culprit in my 'to the death' battle with my P4 1.6G win XP machine. i know all you MAC users will chuckle at my misfortune, but there's nothing like a good fight - especially when you win ;}

thanks again ;}

i'll add that partitioning my drive is what saved the day, make it a practice to keep the MS OS locked in it's own little room !!!

Oh, yes! I always enjoy a good story. Helps me feel better knowing that the fantastic shots I see here don't always spontaneously leap into the camera without some work. :)

but actually this shot sort did spontaneously leap into the camera, just once my computer got ahold of it, it tried to spit it out. a little force feeding was needed in order to get my authority across...

I loved the story. I've had a few like it myself. And you know how misery loves company.....

it didn't help that it was almost 90F with super humidity and no AC...

Thats some shallow depth for F/16!!

damn straight, only 1.25" seen width wise in the image. i cropped only about 10% out to balance the composition. you'd be surprised how fast a tiny worm can move along.
