... I remember there being a 'Rule of Thirds' challenge (didn't take part in that one).
I think we should have two (either basic or back to back member challenges...
Goldern Mean: Compose your photograph using the rule of the goldern mean.
Goldern Spiral: Compose your photograph using the rule of the goldern spiral.
perhaps, DNMC is grounds for DQ? I also think that a 'plain english' definition be given at the offset to mitigate any misunderstanding ;-)
I like to use this site as a way of challenging my 'technical skills' as well as my creative ones.

The rule of thirds is actually a close approximation of the rule of the golden mean. The golden spiral derives from the golden proportion, the golden mean; the same math creates it that defines the golden mean.
Other compositional models that are a little more separated from rule of thirds would include the symmetrical/centered model, the leading line model, the diagonal model, and so forth.
