OK, so I finally bucked up and bought a new Canon 10D. I have a general question for the Canon 10D folk out there: Do I need to buck up for a new speedlite, or will my old Canon 380EX speedlite do the trick?

The 380EX will work fine with the 10D. There is a flash compatability chart in the Imaging Resource review of the 10D.
Welcome to Team 10D! |

Thanks for a link to yet another website just chock-full of information. (You gotta LOVE the internet as an information source.)I've played a bit with my 380EX and it seems to work "OK", but not great. It certainly is better, right now, than bucking up for a new speedlite. I haven't tested it with my studio strobes yet, but I'm sure I'll have the opportunity shortly.
As I said, I've only done some playing with it so far -- I'm actually trying to read the manual right now, but I've captured an image or two that would not have worked with my E-10.
