Today was one of those weird days.

Lost power at my shop, and after the temperature got to be 107F inside, decided to call it a day and close up, head to the coast for some relef from the heat.
Wandered along the coast, and fell into a case of being at the right place at the right time and arrived at the Torrey Pines Gliderport just in time to see a Helicopter & Fire Dept rescue from the cliffs.
A rather large man was on his way back up the very long climb back up and had perhaps a diabetic reaction and could not make it any further.

I grabbed a few shots while there and come to find out, was the only photographer there to capture it.

At this point I should have beat feet home or found an internet cafe, but noooooo..
I wander about for a couple more hours before going home.
I did contact San Diego's largest newspaper's (Union-Tribune) photo room and sent them

but with their tight schedule, missed the deadline, and any opportunity it seems for publication, as it will now be "yesterday's news".

Oh well, guess today I was the hydrant.

that's really cool. Maybe a local paper would want them. Is there a La Jolla paper? Probably too late for that too by now. Nice shots nonetheless.

Oh well, lesson learned. Was cool to see anyway up close & personal.

holy smokes, brad-man! great shooting.

there's a ton of uses for images like those. if you don't care about money, you might contact the emergency response team's public relations department, as well as the county gov't. either may or may not pay, but i'm sure they'd like to have something like that on the wall, or to use in their budget presentations...
