Okay Gayle...I have had a look around and there are some things that need work on.

You are on the right track so please don't take this the wrong way.

If you look at most photographers websites their backgrounds are either a plain colour or they are a dark patterning. A light pattern makes the site very busy.

Also look how many fonts you have...take it back to one or two for the site. The font you have on the tabs is hard to read. And the font of the page is big and really in your face...it is hard to look past to see the tabs. Also the text on some of the gallery pages is overlapping.

Also the pages are blocked on the left hand side instead of center. It seems off putting. But the header and footer are not equal in width to the rest of the page. If that makes sense.

Gayle...you have a site that shows lots of promise and it is hard work....sometimes you wonder if it is worth it. But trust me...it is. Keep going and let me know when you want me to check it again.

I took a look but unfortunately, you designed it for a resolution much bigger than mine so only about half the words fit on the screen. :/ The photos seem to fit okay. My opinion would be that if I was going to spend $60+ on a print, I'd like to see it a bit larger than they are currently displayed. At their current size, there's really no reason to disable right clicking...

I like what you have started Gayle... the font is very hard for me to read on the home page... I had to really study it to read it... would also like maybe a link to see a larger version of the photos, they seem to suffer from compression problems at that size... as stated before, would go with a more simple background so the photos are what stands out and it doesnt compete with them.... I havent even attempted to make my own site... Im a slacker and just use pbase! LOL Keep tweeking the site... Im sure it will be great when you are finished!

On the links bar across the top, when you're at the Home page, the Seniors link doesn't work. However, it *does* work when you are on other pages. Before I would try you out (as a senior), I think I'd want to see more pictures. You have your two Artistic pages, but I think you need Seniors and Family portfolio pages as well.

couple of issues with grammar in write-ups... also text is overlapping on main page.

but overall looks good.

Hi Gayle

I've been designing websites for about 10 years now and in that time, I've never completed one with that much content in only 3 days... :) Since you're building your own website, my advice would be to take your time with it. Look around at other photographer's websites to see examples of layout. If you don't feel you can emulate the designs yourself from scratch, then I would suggest you google the phrase, "photography website templates". There are millions out there and some templates you can download for free. Then just use FrontPage to customise text and image content.

If that's all a bit beyond you right now, then here are some thoughts for your current site:

a) Keep all page headers/banners/navigation consistent on all the pages in the site.

b) Cut down the menu to the following only; Home, Gallery, Prices, Contact.
Home page should include a self-portrait, 1 or 2 paragraphs about you and should only state how long you've been in the industry, what type of photographs you specialise in and an inspiring tag line. That's all, prospective clients will not care about anything else.
Gallery page should have thumbnail size images (ideally 90x90) that link to (or ideally open in a separate window) their respective portfolio category, i.e. Landscapes, Florals, Portraits, Emotive etc... where prospective clients can view full size images.
Prices should be kept together in one page. Listing them all in the one place will save users a lot of back and forth confusion. Be consistent with prices vs print size and include sitting packages. This will also help you in the long term when you have to make price changes, it can be done by updating a single page only.

c) Font styles for content should be kept to either Arial or Verdana, either 10px or 11px and only 14px (at most) for headers. DO NOT CENTER TEXT, keep it either left align or justify. For colour, try #333333 (dark grey) rather than black.

d) Lose the disable right mouse click script. It's annoying, unprofessional and totally useless. Trust me on this one... :)

Other than the previous issues already mentioned in this thread, that's about all the advice I can offer for now. If you have any more questions or need help, contact me by PM.

Cheers and good luck!
Rina
