Anyone attending the Photoshop World Conference this year? I'll be there. Maybe we could organize a get together one evening for those attending.

September 7-9 in Vegas baby!

I have not been able to sleep at all. I wish I could say it was out of anticipation for the conference - but the truth is, I am absolutely phobic about flying. I know it is only a 55 minute flight from Phoenix to Las Vegas, but I get so anxious. Phobic and anxious don't even begin to explain my absolute fear. I don't have any calming meds to help and I usually have a beer (or two before - enough to cut the edge) at the airport, but still, I am going to be one tired person tomorrow. And to make matters worse for my anxiety, I am staying over a few extra days and flying home on Monday - 9/11.

Sheesh!

step 1: breath in
step 2: breath out

repeat

seriously,
take it easy

Hope you have a great time at the conference.
Don't waste too much on the slots.

Bring back at least 1 thing you learned to share with us who can't go!

Thanks for the advice Tony. hmmmm maybe that will work.

I will post back when I return. I'm not taking my 30D because of airline restrictions - so I am packing the little Kodak DC280 (2 Megs) - should be good enough - especially since most of my time will be spent at the seminars.

Cheers

The following technique for dealing with panic caused by fear was suggested to me: Get in a comfortable position if you can, if not do it where ever you find yourself; close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly a few times then imagine taking the hand of someone you trust to be with you while you go through this experience; then look it in the eye. Know that you won't die, faint, ect and that the experience won't last more that 30 seconds or so.

It sounds simple but I've used this technique and each time I used it the panic lessened to the point that now I don't have the fear.
Good luck, let me know if it works for you.

Thanks Sharon, I give it a bash! I'll let you know how it worked out when I return.

Okay - been at the PC long enough - time head off to the airport.

Cheers!

Wondering if the technique worked for you and how was the conference?

The technique actually worked very well - simply being focused on breathing helped too. The beer once we reached altitude was also good :)

The conference itself was phenomenal - so many people. I spent most of my time at the photography track - some great stuff - I especially enjoyed the sessions on panaromics and still-life photography.

Glad to hear the technique helped and of course beer is a great addition.
