Can anyone tell me where the heck Old Bridge and Weehawken are? Are they close to each other? How long to get to them from Newark airport? Any hotel recommendations? TIA!

No personal experience, but Google Maps is a wonderful thing. It looks like Old Bridge is about 1/2 hour south of Newark International, and Weehawken is right across the river from Manhattan (not sure about drive time to that). No clue about hotels, though. |

Taxi. Check the Yahoo map. Zoom out to 5 to see Perth Amboy which is not so far from Old Bridge. Old Bridge is south of Newark and Weehawken. Enjoy the smell of NJ refineries... |

I'm a wetback here... 1988 that is so partially dry now - but Fresh Kills puzzled me for a time. I thought it was something to do with the Staten Island mafia. Until I figured out that Kills comes from the Dutch word meaning ditch. Fresh it might have been way back then - but these days Fresh is a euphamism. NYC no longer dumps its garbage at Fresh Kills waste disposal mountain, I understand. But it's going to take a few hundred years for the reputation to change.... |

There is a Sheraton in Weehawken,NJ - 14 miles from Newark airport and adjacent to a ferry dock for New York City. |

This is true.
I lived in NYC for 36 years and passed through SI many times. I doubt the stench will disappear....but I'll be in NY end of August, I'll check it out. I have friends in SI anyway.
