I have a bunch of old photos that I used to think were pretty good.
Looking at them now, I'm not so happy anymore.
There are simply too many to work them individually, but I find that much of the time, hitting the auto button in Curves makes a huge difference, so just doing that would be a good compromise at least for starters.
I think I can figure out how to record an action, but I don't want it to go on to saving it right away, since the odd photo looks horrendous after "auto curves".
How do I record an action that pauses for an "ok" from me before going on to saving and closing the image?

In the actions window there is a box with a Tick, and an empty box after it. Selecting the empty box will make the action pause and ask for user input :)

Woooo hoooo, it works and makes the job a lot faster.
Thanks for the help, Ben! |

Well, it worked once :-(
Now it pauses for the OK in the curves box, but then pauses again for the OK in the Save box.
The box next to that part of things is still empty, and it did work the first time.
What did I do wrong? |

Maybe when you recorded the action it recorded the file name you chose, and now it's stopping to make sure you don't overwrite the file? I'm not really sure but that could be a reason.

Hmmm... I used the "File - Close and go to bridge", so it just saves it as whatever file name it already is, unlike a "Save As", therefore I don't think THAT would be the problem.
I deleted and recorded it again, but same thing.
Craziest part is that every once in a while it DOES play all the way through, but without any rhyme or reason that I can figure out so far. |

Are you doing them 1 by 1? Or are you running a batch process with the action? Whichever one you're doing, try the other to see if it helps :)

I am doing it 1 by 1 - mostly because I don't know how to do it as a batch *g*.

If you go to //www.konador.com/pp I've made a free video showing you how to do batch :)

I'm on my way - mind the dust cloud! |

That was easy enough to follow, thank you!
Sadly, though, it is still stopping at the Save *sigh*
However, even with that stop, the whole process is MUCH faster, so I'm happy :-) |
