In photography, "reverse scanner" is a term sometimes used to describe how high-end professional photolab printers work, using lasers; with a conventional scanner, you scan an analog image and output a digital file. These printers essentially take the digital file and use a laser and photographic paper to output the analog image.
I believe "reverse scanner" is a term used in an audio context as well, specifically with Dolby systems, but I don't know anything about this.

Thanks.
My friend was asked by her friend, a photographer, to help him buying a reverse scanner, second hand, here in Hong Kong. Maybe my friend didn't get it right.

Perhaps he's looking for a scanner that can scan negatives (color reversal film) and output true-color positive digital files? That would make sense. Try looking for "color negative scanners" or "film scanners".

Thanks. You confirmed what I thought, too.
Thanks a lot.
