What started as this out of the camera (untouched)
I played with it a bit...
It still needs work tho. What Could I do to make this image better?

Increase contrast some more - it looks a little washed out. Then work on getting the color to pop out of that rainbow.

Hi there. Isn't learning fun?
I agree that you can increase the contrast a bit. Try this page for a few simple details about using curves:
//www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/command_primer.shtml
You can search Google for "photoshop curves" for many more tutorials.
I'd also suggest cropping out the tree to the left. That'll both eliminate irrelevant details and pull the rainbow to the left.
You'll hear about the "rule of thirds," which means that most images are more striking when the main subject is along a line 1/3 of the way across the image either up, down, left, or right. And really powerful points are intersections of those lines. That's why the church's roof is in such a good spot already. |

| Hi there...I am new as well and I think that this picture has some GREAT potential. I would say decrease the brightness, increase the sharpness and also, increase the colours of the rainbow...I don't know the editing software you use but it should be relatively simple to play around with it...Have fun and keep learning. I know I still am. |

now the goal is to do in camera cropping instead of doing it in software.
