| Is there any way to take black and white photos with my Nikon D50 with out having to convert them into Black and white on a computer? |

Not unless there is a B&W mode on the D50.

The D50 does not have a black and white mode.

| Even if the D50 does have a B/W mode (which I am pretty sure it does not, I've yet to find a Nikon DSLR with it), you will get much better results by changing the photo to B/W in post-processing. The B/W mode of most cameras is a basic destaturation of the image, often lacking contrast and such. My philosophy is always shoot in color so that you have the most options available to you when working with the photo later (you can take the color out of a color photo, you can't add it back in to a b/w photo). |

Actually both the D2x and the D200 have B&W modes.

I have a D200 and you can also set up a 'high contrast' b&w custom setting that is sweet.
Added this: I just tried it again and I can't find what I set. I am looking.

Just to clarify...
The D2x does not have a black and white mode but the new D2Xs does.
