Well i can't find any way to resize my picture to this size. I have done 111 x 90 and 120 x 98 and i can't get the direct size 120 x 90..... what am i doing wrong? I am using Microsoft Picture Manager...and i have tried before PS CS2 and not can't do it there too.

any ideas for a slow person?? LOL =)

the picture i am going to start with will be this one for now.

Here's how I always end up doing it:

Open a new document with dimensions of 120x90 - then copy/paste your image onto the new doc; use Transform to resize as needed. Flatten. And you're set! :)

Using the marquee tool in CS (the little square), you can select "fixed aspect ratio" from the dropdown box in the toolbar. Enter 120x90 (or vice versa) and you can crop to the proper aspect ratio and then resize.

I only have Elements at work so it's a tiny bit different but this is the same general idea.

Ughh.. I though I'd finally lost it..
I've been trying to crop the perfect picture 120x90 for the past hour and the second I get done this horrible job I come and see this..I really thought I was hallucinating..

Anyway the getting down to size is the easy part (get rid of the constrain proportions).. where you'll end up going wrong is the crop.. The dimensions will look so insane if you do the picture without the crop. The face will get squashed or stretched.. The key is proabably trial and error to get the crop down. By the time you've done the 5th time you'll start getting the asthetics right with the crop..

Ahh sorry to sound so discouraging but I'm still weary from my adventure..

Edit:: Waaahhhh.. I still look demented in my profile pic....

Just out of curiousity... Why can't we just upload a NORMAL 640 max image and DPC does the downsizing for us? The site already has the code in place to generate thumbnails with a max size of 120. Why not let me select the image I want as my profile pic and the site auto-thumbnails it to 120 max (who cares about how wide it is? It could be 120x120 for all I care...)?

Has there been any talk of them making it a little easier to up load or is it just going to stay as is.

It's not that hard -- if you are going to be a digital photographer, I think knowing how to crop and resize an image to specified dimensions is a pretty basic skill to have ... this is a learning site after all.
