If you have read my other post you probably know that I just got a light meter. My question is about Manual Mode on the camera. I've never used it before. Well, what I noticed is that when I set my own aperature and shutter speed the exposure compensation changes automatically . Why is that? I thought if I am in manual I should be deciding and not the camera. What am I missing?

The internal light meter is just showing where you are at. Your manual controls are still fixed. Basicly think of it as the camera's light meter as a warning for over/under exposure.

That's correct - you are deciding. The camera is showing 'exposure compensation' (called EV on some cameras) to let you know how many stops above or below the automatic settings you've gone. It's there only for informational purposes.
