Just attended a gathering of my extended family. This made me re-think the desirebility of sharp lenses -- most of my siblings and cousins look older in the photos I took than I remember them being :-)
But I have to "share" and incident that happened at the gathering:
There must have been a half dozen or so with DSLRs. We were taking a group shot of the "next generation" and I asked my Uncle to move to the side. My Uncle likes to one-up others, and he said "You don't have a zoom lens? You'll have to wait till we're done." (I was using a 50mm f/1.4 on a 5D w/ battery grip and 580EX, he had a D70 and consumer zoom).
Now this Uncle was a teen-ager durring World War II, and has a perhaps oudated view of Japanese quality. I just looked at his camera and said "You're using a Nikon? Did you know those are made in Japan?" He was speechless.

It's the uncle that's into one-upmanship then.
You can blur in photoshop (like you didn't know) - there's even a little tutorial if I'm not mistaken.
Blurring tutorial.
Might save the wrinkles some blushes...

Yes, but he's not the only one in the family :-)

Doing it right in PS is a lot of work, so I'll only do that on a few photos. But past a certain age (or perhaps its the amount of wrinkles/blemishes) PS only helps a little.
PS also stands for "Plastic Surgeon" :-) But I'd rather look old than go under the knife.
