Hi,
I have just purchased a Fuji S602z and I am now looking to buy some NiMH rechargeable battries for it.
I currently own four AA battries made by Failsafe which are rated at 1300 mah. I have also looked into battreies such as Panasonic NiMH batteries with a 1950 mah rating. They also charge in as little as three hours. I am looking to buy at least two more sets (4 batteries per set).
I need to know if the difference in mah can make a big difference in how long the batteries will last. Should I continue buying the 1300 mah Failsafe batteries (a $35 CAN investment)or make a more sizeable investment into the 1950 mah Panasonic batteries and a new charger (a $110 CAN investment)? Please share your opinion, especially if you have had to make this decision before or if you own an S602z.
Thanks,
Denis

I just got some Energizer batteries and charger from Costco.com. Batteries are rated 1850. Charger is slow though -- 15 hour timer. Charger with two batteries was around $16 US, 4-pack of batteries around $10-12. |

I have some energizers too which are better than the other 2 brands I have (sanyo and optex, though marginally better), definately go for the 1850 or better batteries, even with those you will be changing them often (if you take lots of shots at a time), they are well worth the money. Running out of batteries is a real drag when you are on a shoot. (london drugs also carries the energizers for roughly same price)

I have three sets Beagle. they are all over 1800 mAH Have had them since last October and they are still going strong. I must have charged each set at least 200 times or more. They last for hours even with you flash on the 602. By the way Welcome and have fun. I want to see you kicking your brothers Arse. :-)

Denis -- where are you buying your batteries from?? I paid $11 us for a set of 1800 NiMH batteries from Walmart (I was visiting down there) and I find them to be wonderful..I can shoot all my memory easily with one set of charged batteries, and then some! (I have 350mb of memory). I think it does make a difference the rating of the battery.
I bought a fast charger from radioshack that only cost me $20 cdn plus tax.

DigiPower DSP9000 is the only way to go with the 602. It's an external battery that screws into the tripod mount and has it's own tripod mount in it. It'll run all day and then some! It's what I used with my 602, and never had any issues with it!
crabAPPL3 says check it out!

Well, I shopped around on the internet and around home and decided to go with Energizer batteries (2100 mha) and the associated charger at our local Walmart. Good ol' Walmart.
Thanks for the comments, suggestions and threads.
