Hey everyone,

Just wondered what everyone around here used to calibrate their monitors? I started to use my new monitor without calibrating it, but when I was at a friends place, I realised that the photo I submitted for abstract foods looked nothing like the photo I saw on my monitor. I contacted LG about the software and I got this response;

email.htm -----------Reply to Customer Enquiry------------
You will need torun the monitor through a calibration program. LG does not suppply calibration software for our units as the specs for programs differ. Adobe photo shop has a calibration software available. Your editing software should also have a calibration software available. Please check online for any other calibration software. Thanks for your inquiry LG

Honestly, I donât know if Iâm just doing it wrong, or if itâs the monitor (most likely me) but I really need this fixed! I was actually feeling really good about this entry. So if you could recommend any calibration software, or if anyone with an LG Flatiron 19â monitor could post their setting, Iâd REALLY appreciate it!

Thanks so much!

I use a Spyder 2 colorimeter.

I use Gretag Macbeth's Eye One Display 2.

Did you try using Adobe Gamma as "LG" suggested? You may find it to be close enough for you when you use it correctly.

Thanks for the guide on Gamma... unfortunatly i must have a later version... and i belive the problem is with the Brightnes to contrast ratio? I lowered both to 50% should this help? or now will i be under over editing instead of under editing?

This bar is your friend.

The contrast is set to 100% and the brightness is set to the appropriate black point. There is a lot of information at the site I linked to. Did you get to this section yet?

Yeah, first thing i did! I think the problem there is that the monitor has a 1400:1 contrast ratio... So i got my the bar right, but my editing looked drasticly different than on an other monitor where the bar is also fully visable. Thanks though!

Sounds like you need to adjust the gamma for one to all of the monitors in question.
