Practicing my Corel Painter. Comments needed on paint style. Not so much on the composition. However, If you don't like or LIKE the "close" crop, let me know. IMO I may have "trapped" the bird inside too small an area.

Thanks,

KS

Edited to put in a new version...comments?

Like the idea, but I agree with you the bird has nowhere to go and needs more room around it, but not necessarily equal. I also think that you should try it the other way round ( flip it) and then give the bird some space in front of it.So that it is moving from left to right.
Hope that this helps.

Thanks for the comment. When I first started to paint it, I didn't plan ahead and "stopped" too soon "going out" from the bird...hence, he is trapped. I can repair it though. My main goal when starting the painting was to test my skill in Corel. I did not plan out my composition though...

Bump to show new edit....Now the question is ....should I keep some of the "blue" paper color or leave it out as in the new version?

I love the new edit. You could try leaving the blue paper round the edges.......see how that looks.

Looks like you're having loads of fun in Corel, what version are you using? Using graphic tablet/mouse?

Hello, thanks for the commments. I'll add some blue back later tonight.

I am using the trial of Corel Painter IX.5 (9.5). I also purchased a $90 Wacom 4x6 tablet two weeks ago. I knew in 2 seconds that creating "painterly" images in Painter with a mouse was futile! The Wacom is the best purchase I've made in years. It also works wonders in Photoshop. Makes many tasks much eaiser and cleaner!

Thanks again,
