Portfolio image folder totals like (12) ??

I seem to remember when looking at portfolios and in the collections frame on the left side, beside each folder, used to be a number in parentheses like:
Portfolio
Â· 2004 Challenges(59)
Â· 2005 Challenges(62)
Â· 2006 Challenges(31)
Then all our own folders, with the numbers beside them for the totals in each folder.
When I go to move a picture from one to another or move a group, I see a (?) in that line item in the drop-down, but no totals.

I don't see any user settings I have to turn this on/off.
Whur'd they go?

I just noticed that the other day...thought I had too many for it to count in one folder...but that is ridiculous.

So what ever happened to these?

Used to look like this:

(though I got bored and didn't finish all the folders - too damn many)

think about all the work Langdon has to do, to count and fill this in for all thousands members & portfolios here on DPC!!!!

haha - me thinks Langdon wouldn't do the counting.
Or if he did, he seriously would need a life - maybe needs one anyway with all the fun this place generates.

Still curious as what happened though - they used to be there.

I think there were performance issues with too many database hits per page load or something along those lines, so langdon removed the numbers to increase the speed. I'm not sure whether it's temporary or permanent... hey I'm not even sure if I'm right at all :P But I do seem to remember it was something like that
