Just unpacked my new Canon 10-22 and having never owned anything this w_i_d_e, it looks like a lot of fun. Will take it out for a bit of a spin tomorrow but hit the ISO3200 and took some snaps (yeah, I know background is boring and I should have moved my white sheet but)...

I understand why they say to kept this sucker parallel with the subject because when you don't this is what happens :-)

But it makes him look so smart :)

What's the closest focus length on that lens?

parallel is boring, this is very cool. This kind of shot sells. I LOVE wide angle portraits.

And it's easy to get a model release on that kid for you!

Have fun with it - I love my 12-24

We must be living parallel lives - I just received my Canon 10-22 today also and had the same issues...

Kids. They never stop trying to grab things. :)

Specs were something like 25cm. It feels kinda strange because the angle is just SO much wider then you (I anyway) think - you take the shot and find you are almost against the subject :-)

Thanx that would be great. Yeah - I off-loaded some stuff and then added some more stuff so it's still somewhat weighty. Might get to the point that I take the film camera out [runs and hides from this digital crowd :-)]. It's ok, I think my delicate frame can take a little more weight in the pack :-))

I am back in Oz for a month soon and will be heading back to where I grew up, so I wanted the wide sucker for that - plus they just look like fun generally (once I get over the sticker shock :-o).

Come on, I gota get some sleep soon and let me tell ya, that thought is not going to help one little bit :-)) Congrats on the lens! I know they try to grab stuff but until this lens I was further then several inches and they could not reach - need to keep that in mind now.

I have always like them on kids and adults brave enough to get in front too. Will see :-)
