Is it possible to add a short decription to be viewed by voters other than the title? Perhaps a character limited line (50-75) to ensure the photographer can relate how his/her photo actually meets the challenge-for more "outside the box" shooters. This line would have rules, like the titles, so that the photographer can not give away who they are.
The reasoning behind this idea is the current forum on the "Apollo" pic for Stationery. After the challenge I looked again at "Apollo" to read the photographers comments. It was only then that I realized how the photo was set up and the time put into it.
In that string of postings it appears to me that the main complaint is of people casting 1-2-3 votes for Did Not Meet Challenge. And the appearant unstated bottom line is "the average voter does not know what the photographer knows, and can misinterpert or misunderstand the photograph." This misunderstanding might sway some voters to drop a 1-2-3 for DNMC.
This regulated line could add more description (than just a title) to the shot. EXAMPLE for "Apollo": "Sun is made from individually rolled paper." Immediately clearing up any voter's thoughts that it was a purchased, pre-made, pop-up decoration. While at the same time obviously stating how the shot meets the "Stationery" challenge.
Just a suggestion.

I think you'll get a lot of replys saying an image should be able to speak for itself without more information telling the voter what to look at or for. While I do agree in part that Apollo was a very nice image that took mass amounts or work I don't think knowing that would change a vote.
We're supposed to be voting on how an image is technically, not how long or how much work it took to set it up. Someone can spend days setting up an image but if it doesn't appeal to the voters it won't do well.
I also saw that some of the apollo comments said that just cause it was made out of paper didn't make it stationery (not saying that is right or wrong) so even with the info added some would not be swayed.
And on a final note, some believe that there shouldn't even be title on the images during voting so I doubt they would allow this.
