I pretty much got to agree with TC's self-analysis; oversharpened, blown-out fireworks, empty dark areas, a pretty average shot IMO, elevated a little because of the foreground interest :-)

i gave the photo a 6 which for this challenge was below average. I think the reason I didnt score higher is because the photo seems slightly out of focus and I thought that the street lights under the trees added too much distraction from the rest of the photo. Now that I look at it again I agree that the fireworks look very bright compared to the reflection.

Well, I didn't vote in this challenge, so does this mean that I gave you a zero?

You got a 6.4, if you want I'll take that score and you can have one of my many 5's. Come on lets make a deal.

It put the fireworks in a scene, which set it apart from the rest. Look at the ribbons - all of them include more of a scene than just another fireworks picture. With such limited subject matter, composition played a HUGE role.

Hmmmm, I see my "1" didn't show up. Must be I didn't do enough of them. Must do better, must do better...

I also gave your picture a 5. I wasn't that crazy about the composition as my eye was pulled away from the fireworks to the street lights and the people. The firework and reflection seemed somewhat secondary to me. |

This is a true story that I heard on the radio today, and I am wondering if these two were not from DPC.
Two dudes in Boulder, Colorado did acid, hid under a bridge that was used for bikers and pedestrians and charged them $1.00 to cross. They did this for a couple days until one of the dudes they were hassling was an off duty officer that nabbed them. |

I gave it a 4.
There were so many similar shots that I just started voting a 5 if it was average, a 4 if it was below average, a 6 or 7 if it was above average and 8 or higher if it was outstanding. I felt this shot was below average.

HaHa. It may be that my rock was just upstream from yours. And a giant fish came along and chased me away before my quote of "1"s were done. |
