8 or better photograph? It's obviously oversharpened and the dead space to the right totally off balances the composition! Not only that but the firework is overexposed and the color doesn't match the water. It is at best a 5-ish shot... C'mon people open your eyes!
I demand that anyone that gives an at best adequate picture anything better than say a 6 be forced to justify their score with a comment!

Mainly for me it was because there is more to the shot than just a fireworkâ€Â¦love the water and reflection.

It basically included something other then the fireworks. Voting for this was probably pretty boring (Did not vote). Mostly the same type of shots. Main reason I didn't enter. |

It was the tilted horizon - voters can't help but give you extra points for the creativity.

the guy in the boat in the midst of the red reflection on the water is what spoke to me and negative space isn't always a bad thing. I gave it a 6 but i'm kinda new.

maybe they were voting relative to the rest of the images, lol, I think your pic is still pretty good...
but man, I said this earlier and then deleted it cuz voting wasn't over, but I was surprised to see so many fireworks in the sky pics...
I really thought that someone would ribbon with a portrait of some cute kid, done in sepia-type tones at dusk, totally engrossed in a sparkler with maybe some fireworks in the background or a ton of people or something... I was even more surprised to only find, I think, 3 kid pics and one is during the day and the other two the kid isn't the subject, it's the sparkler they're drawing with instead
but yeah.... who knows |

| I gave this one a 2. I wasnt really convinced that those were really fireworks. I thought it was possible that it was really a dandelion close up to the camera with the stem cloned out. So I voted DNMC. And the reflection on the water was just some cool photoshop editing. Quite surprised it didnt get DQ'ed personally. ;) |
