Ok, I swear to God this is absolutely, positively the last thread I'll generate about this particular shot. I'm getting tired of hearing myself brag about it...!
I haven't gotten a copy myself yet, but today is the day you should find a full-page ad for Chevy, featuring a photo of PNC Park I originally shot as a DPC entry. This shot was also used in the July 3 issue of Sports Illustrated, which should still be on stands until Thursday.
ALSO... if you happen to live in a market near Pittsburgh (Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Washington DC, Philadelphia... going by memory here)... there should also be an ad for a group called "Pittsburgh Roars." That ad should also include a PNC Park photo of mine that I took at a different time and from a different angle.
So splurge and spend that .75 to see my work in USA Today, and I promise never to mention it again! :) |

The coin fell through due to their time constraints and permissions they would have needed from baseball officials.
The Players Choice Club had wanted to use the shot as a basis for a coin etching to be handed out as a promotional item at a big-wig party. They wound up using a skyline shot (not mine) instead.
Oh, and no, I don't get tickets to the game. I will be heading down there today in order to try to get a program for the game, though... the Chevy ad is appearing in there as well.

I just picked up my copy (ok, NUMEROUS copies...) of the paper... the Chevy ad is in the Sports section, page 10C (bottom left part of the page).
And the regional ad for Pittsburgh Roars is in the Life section, page 6D. This shot is huge -- about 1/3 of the page! |

Technically and artistically, this is such an excellent image. Congratulations on the nice placement, both in DPC and in the advertising world.
As one of the other posters said, we can't get enough of this kind of good news. |

Can you post some pics of the magazines, or do we have to buy them? ;-)

Alan, I'm on the 16th floor of M&T Plaza in Buffalo, where I work as an auditor. Down on the first floor is a newsstand where they sell USA Today. On on my way to pick one up as we speak. If you're lying, I want your Paypal ID so I can charge back that $.75....

Heh... I promise they're in there, unless I'm hallucinating really well today!

A couple people had asked me if I'd scan an ad or two since not everyone can go out and buy these things. I stopped by PNC Park yesterday afternoon and bought a couple copies of the All-Star Program, which included this ad, covering two pages. I was pretty shocked to see that the ad consisted nearly entirely of my shot!
The ad starts on one page, has an insert with a scorecard in the middle, and the other page of the ad on the other side. If you look closely, you can see that they used the shot on each page -- it's used as a background of the first page:

You had to buy a copy of the all-star program?
Hell, I would think you would get a few for free, I actually thought you would get tickets to the game as a "bonus"
BTW-- It was really cool to see the commercial on tv lastnite, Congrats again..

Yeah, I suppose if I were more savvy I could have worked more fun stuff into the deal. But I'm not that savvy :)
That's cool you saw the TV spot! I got it recorded on DVD during the game. I got all excited when I saw the beginning of it one time, but it was a :30 second version that didn't include my shot. Thankfully the full version ran later.

They found it on my web site, and called me. The irony of all of this is that if I had actually tried to market it, I'm sure I would have failed miserably!
