Here's a couple of shots I took after this horse and rider had just finished a jumping competition - I thought the veins were rather remarkable -
Comments on my photography are welcome as always.
Incidentally, about 10 minutes later this horse had cooled down and all the vein definition was gone.
Amazing event to photograph - some of the most beautiful horses I have seen.

Lovely shot - left a comment on the first one. Could you add the lens and settings to the info? Thanks! |

You know you're a horse lover when:
-You accessorize your hairstyle with pieces of hay.
-You examine every piece of rope or twine for its halter potential.
-You think a great vacation is spending a long weekend in front of a horse trailer by a dusty arena.
-You take your child's temperature and think 120 degrees is normal.
-You spend more money on horseshoes than on your own shoes.
-You always keep carrots, apples and sugar cubes in your refrigerator.
-You prefer the smell of a stable to cologne.
-You sleep with your boots on and count horses to sleep.
-Your laugh sounds like a horse whinny.
-Instead of giving someone directions to turn left or right, you tell them to "gee" or"haw".
-You still have your childhood horse statues in your bedroom.
-Your favourite outfit is made out of leather and includes whips and spurs.
-You talk to your horse more than your spouse.
-You spend more time at the feed store than at the grocery store. |

Wow, pretty amazing animals.
Do you have to pay to go to an event like that? My 5yo daughter LOVES horses, I mean loooooooooooooooooves them. I need to find a local event and take her. She would be in heaven. She'd be even happier if she could ride one and I looked into riding lessons, but at 30 dollars for a half hour lesson I don't think that will be happening lol. |

I added camera and exposure data to the uploads - sorry for that omission
Here's some more from that day -
Thanks for the comments - anything that could be better?

I live just down the street from the county equestrian park - there's everything from rodeo to chariot to hunting/jumping competitions - most of the time its just some local club so I can walk in wiht my camera and have a grand old time.

These are all excellent - I'd offer "what you could do better" but I'm afraid I haven't a clue. Thanks for sharing these, and for putting in the info on the exposures/settings!
