I have just begun to learn how to use this lens. This thing takes GREAT photos.



Just about stright out of the camera. Auto levels, contrast and color.

I was drinking at the time and the IS is great also.

I dont think he liked me taking his photo, flipping me off and all. LOL

Shutter speed will be key here - in situations where you can use a fast shutter speed (and for surfing and skateboard shots - that will be important anyway) I think you'll be fine hand holding it. You will certainly add some muscle the more you shoot. And if you already have a steady hand - you'll be fine. I brace my arm against my body for added stability - you'll get the hang of it.

I think you'll really enjoy the 100-400!

The 10D and 350D can only guarantee autofocus up to f/5.6, so by adding a 2x TC that reduces the aperture by two f-stops and the 100-400 goes beyond that.
