Hi,
I'm looking to buy a fairly cheap, yet reasonable quality travel lens. I'm currently looking at the Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5D, and also it's 3rd party counterparts. Is 380,000won (around $380 US) a reasonable price for this lens (I'm in Korea you see)? Also, is there any other, cheaper (or better quality for aroudn the same price) lenses anyone would recommend?

I'm just looking for a general purpose lens with a reasonable wide angle and a little bit of zoom.

Cheers.

The Nikkor AF 28-105 is one heck of a lens. It is sharp throughout the range, has a very high quality build, and the best part it has a macro mode that goes down to 1:2. Be sure to get the HB-18 lens hood as it slightly prone to flare, as is most zooms.

edit to add... I wouldn't carry the 28-105 as my only lens since with 1.5 crop factor the wide end dissappears, but with your Tokina 12-24 it would be a good addition.

Check out the Tamron 24-135 3.5-5.6 SP lens.
It's an excellent lens, very sharp too. about $400 US. it'll give you more range than the nikon too.

I think a lens like Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 is what you are looking for.
Would fit the budget and the range is good. I don't know if the quality will be reasonable for you, but for the price and range I think that's likely to be the sort of quality you will get.

I don't know much about Sigma 18-200 F/3.5-6.3 DC.

I have the Nikkor 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED and use it all the time. It gives me very good results, but it's not wide.

And yeah, for more than double the price, there's the AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED. I think the length of the name delivers.
