| I was thinking about buying a filter holder and some ND grads for my wide angel lens (12-24 Nikon). I have searched on google but I haven't found any good information. I have mostly been looking at Cokin and Lee filter holders. Which filter system do you recommend me to buy and which filters should I buy? |

| The Cokin filter holder is cheap, you can get them for about $5 on eBay, the expensive stuff is the actual filter, some are better than others, some are plastic, some are glass. ND grads vary from $25 to $200+...it all depends on what you need or want... |

I use the Cokin P series holder with Singh-ray filters. If you go cokin with the 12-24 you need to dremel off all but the first filter slot or it will vignette. Fhotodiox is a huge ebay seller that offers quality cokin compatable holders and adapter rings.
IMO the cokin system is great except their filters aren't. Try Singh-ray or lee filters.

Do you have the Fhotodiox holder? Have you compared it to the Cokin? The price looks great, but I'm curious how it compares (do both the Cokin and Fhotodiox use aluminum rings and ABS plastic holders?). I saw something on the Cokin site about autofocus on the lens and letting the filter rotate freely. Just curious if it makes sense to buy name brand here.

Besides the regular filter holder, Cokin also make a wide-angle filter holder that has only one slot. I was going to cut a regular one up until I spotted the wide-angle version - much easier.
