I have been checking into calendar printing and most places prefer the picture files to be in CMYK but I have Photoshop Elements which does not do conversion to CMYK. Any software suggestions? Free would be great. The cost per calendar seems to be cheaper if I pre convert too which would make them easier to sell. Thanks for any information. Suggestions for online calendar printing services also welcome.

This sounds like the best plan if you intend to do this on a continuing basis -- but if it's just a one time thing, you can download PS from Adobe's website to try out for a limited time.

Upgrading to full Photoshop is not worth it to me for the expense and where I am at with my photography at this point. Except for this issue, Elements does everything I need (or at least that I know how to- I am just beginning to learn what I can do with it) but the free trial may be a good suggestion. Any others?

If you are serious about the printing part, you have to have all of your art converted to CMYK.
No one prints in RGB. It's a CMYK in the print world.
Photoshop is the way to go.
Go to Ebay and find a cheap copy there. Doesn't have to be the latest version, but once you start using CS2, you'll be hooked. |

| Take a look at this free utility: ICC Profile Converter. |

You don['t need to convert the profile (used to preview the effect of the change) but the color-space.
Your best bet is to get someone with Photoshop to do it for you -- it shouldn't take long on a modern computer.
Get specification from your printer as to Halftone Screen Ruling, Total Ink Coverage, and Black Plate Generation.
I could probably do it for yu if it's not too many pictures and your deadline isn't in the next day or two ... |
