So I went camping this weekend at Pine Lake with my family. The next day (July 1st), we went to watch some fireworks from the middle of the lake in the evening. We got back to the camp, the rest of my family headed to bead, and I decided I would go try out some night shooting with my camera on the lake (as the lake was all steamy). As I was doing that, the owner of the campground comes down and says hi. We chatted for a while and it turns out he used to be a professional photographer for 20 years (not just money on the side, it was his only day job). So I got the chance to ask him some questions inquiring about the profession and just stuff about photography.
In the end he offered to lend me his Canon D30 along with some lenses (Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG HSM and Sigma 17-35mm F2.8-4 EX DG ASPHERICAL HSM) for the rest of the weekend.
I didn't use the 17-35 except for some night shots, but yea, I would love to hear some comments on my shots.

Nice luck! Gotta love us Canadians for our generousity and friendliness. I just came back from Mt. Kidd (Kananaskis, near Banff) and had way too many photo ops for my inexperienced eye to comprehend.

This shot has real potential. I love the emotion and coloring. Good background. alittle crop and clone out the white tissue and you have it.
Bet you had fun.

Nice fellow to loan out such a nice camera. I think you must be sold on the camera and want to get one for your self. Terrific pictures all of them. The colors are vibrant and interesting and full of life. |

I was planning on getting a D70s and now I am considering getting a Canon instead, except I don't want a Rebel XT, too small. I also want that lens, lol.

Absolutely beautiful shots. That glass is amazing. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am desperately jealous of those who are comfortable with candid shots. |

I trust you're talking the 30D vice the D30 (which I believe is a film camera). Do yourself a favor and just take the plunge. Skip the first level dSLR and get the 30D (or the D200 if you want to go Nikon). I still love my Rebel, and have even used it a couple of times since the 30D got here, but I really love the 30D. Worth the buyer's remorse and everything! |

no the D30 is the camera that preceeded the D60. The D in the name signifies a digital camera for canon. It's a 3.2mp camera and the OP even posted a link to the camera if you want to check it out. |

I knew this was going to come up. It is a Canon D30, not 30D. Follow this link to see the specs. It's a really old model.
The main problem is that I am not built of money. After buying a camera, I have to vigorously start saving for school. I will not get a 30D or D200 as they are around $2000 CND.

Edit: Too slow, purely redundant
Canon D30
The Model T of the Canon DSLR line. Nice camera for its time, and obviously still performs well looking at the quality of these shots.

Ok... fixed this one up, and it's under review for print. Only 8x10 as the camera was only a 3.1 mp.
