We've got an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic, fantastic camera. The 55mm 1.8 lens is also awesome. Looks and feels like a real camera, unlike my digital. |
I use a Pentax Takumar 50mm F1.4 with my rebel (with an adapter). I thought of picking up a spotmatic on Ebay just to play with.

This is coming from a guy with a 1D MkII.
Sorry, couldn't resist :-)
You are right though, the eye is the most important, but equipment sure helps!

Anyhow, ugly, or at least unusual, is prolly what they are going for. There are a whole slew of folks who will buy something just *because* it doesn't conform. Think Scion Xb. Think Honda Element. Digital cameras are now getting to the point where in order for the manufacturers to differentiate themselves in the market, style is an important design consideration. It's not just tech anymore! |
I agree...and I actually kind-a like it...and I do have a Scion...but it's an XA

The thing that twigs my eye is the big lens...
I like big glass.
If they could only get back on the rangefinder bandwagon and replace the mid-range cameras of a few years ago...
If they were to do something like 24-100mm or something like that with a nice big German lens on it and a sensor on it that was half-way between APS-C and the current mini-sensors, I think they could come pretty close to having a winner... If it had an optical finder that is... :) Image stabilization on something like that would be icing on the cake...
