A couple of weeks ago I went on holidays for a few days with my husband, 3 children and my parents-in-law to Carnarvon Gorge and stayed at Takarakka Bush Resort. Carnarvon Gorge is a magical place nestled in Central Queensland, Australia, that runs for 35 kilometers and reaches depths of 600 meters deep.

We stayed in glorified tents (canvas cabins with power and a fridge) and I froze my butt off. But thoroghly enjoyed my time there going for 7 kilometer walks and then sitting around the campfire toasting marshmallows with the other campers.

Our cabin was on the bank of a deep creek and we would be bombarded with wildlife day and night. You had to be careful going to the bathrooms at night as the kangaroos would be in your pathway and often you would both get a fright as you stumbled on them in the dark.

The place was magical to say the least and definitely worth a return. We went there on a holiday but the resort has approached me to use my photography for their own business.

I couldn't show these photos to you until the last challenge had finished to keep the anonymity of the entries.

But I can now so here are a couple of the shots linked to my challenge entry. This frog was alive throughout all of these images. That is what alerted me to the scene...his screams.

In order -

Here are 3 SLIDESHOWS of this location. The Audio for two of the shows has been supplied by Steve Deal who has released many beautiful CD's. These shows are not really suitable for dial up users.

Landscape
This is a large size file but definitely worth seeing. You will see landscape that not only covers Carnarvon Gorge but the area around where I live.

Wildlife
This is a really fun show that shows the wildlife of the area. Kids love this particular show. So do I. No animals are kept in captivity...they are free to roam as they please and must be treated as wild animals.

I haven't forgotten the dial up users. I have included links to the GALLERIES that show all the images in the slideshows plus more.
