I have a chance to buy a nikon 80-200 2.8 push pull lens for about $500 it is in perfect condition. Whats the difference between a push pull and a two touch? And is that a good deal?

Thanks

I cannot speak to the specific lens and price but push-pull vs twist is a personal thing. A lot (most probably) seem to hate push-pull but my first Canon lens (35-105) was push-pull and I still prefer the design. It just feels more natural to me to pull the lens back to get further away and push to get closer rather than twisting.

If you are doing a lot of manual focusing then I find that the twist is better than push-pull since the focus ring is not moving but most people (me included) use auto-focus most of the time anyway.

I see a lot of stuff about the push-pull sucking in air and therefore dirt but IMO that is nonsense since either method needs to move the same volume of air in and out of the lens, so the method to me is irrelevant - it's a matter of sealing/filtering.

I agree with Rob about the push pull lens NOT being a 'dust bug' I have the 100-400 push pull so can't comment on others. I've had no 'dust' issues and honestly prefer the action to a twist on a long zoom.
