Two days ago my boss borrowed me his Nikon F5.
Man what a felling. First feeling was who the heck turned on the ligh when looking through the viewfinder...
It came with a Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4D AF Nikkor and a bag of old manual lenses including a Tamron Telephoto 300mm f/2.8 LD IF Manual Focus.
I feel like buying a D70S.
Just wanted to share. A new toy to play with...

Have fun! I haven't shot film in a SLR in awhile. I took some Polaroids with a vintage Polaroid 450. I want to do more but the film is damned expensive and I haven't gotten to the store to buy more yet.

I have an EOS 1N, it's a way nicer body than my digital camera. It's just not as convienent, and I know absolutely nothing about film developing so creative control after the shot is nonexistant.
It is fun to shoot with though, and eventually I'll probably learn to develop at least B&W, and buy the equipment for it. |

When my digital camera was getting fixed I used a $5 disposable camera for a few things... :-)

these are photos I took with my Lubitel camera, a first-timer, never used it before. I think it's 6x6 cm film, but i also could be smaller, not sure.
I think it's great to use film. Makes you think about what you're doing even more :) have fun with yours!!

I love my pentax 645. Went shooting at sunrise this morning with a friend who owns a 5D. He took my film in for me, when he looked at the negs he was blown away by the detail. He went ebaying this afternoon for one.

I still shoot with my Canon Elan II every once in a while.
Last summer it was to play with multiple exposures. In the winter I took it as a second camera to a workshop to shoot super wide angle shots with the 17-40 lens.

| i love film when I can afford it. Some shots on my website are from film, all velvia and provia, on 35mm, 120 (6x6 and 6x7) and 4x5. I'm about to graduate college so it's a shame I won't be able to use those cameras anymore. I had a mamiya 7 but I sold it. The only thing I have left that shoots film is a yashicamat 124 g which is still pretty nice. |

Seriously, I doubt that there's not a way to simulate it if you know how.
The guy over at Chromasia often takes pictures that I could swear are MF or velvia/provia. But they're just very well processed images from a 20d.

Wow, that's a cool camera. I'm going to check them out more and maybe get one on ebay. Does it use cartridges for film or single plate things like view cameras? And do you have any shots with color film? |

This is a website mainly for digital photographerstext
Yes - but it is also a site for discussing photograpy of all types. Plus, it is so easy to blend the two. If you are not into developing and printing your own stuff you can have your film developed and put onto disc and manipulate it through PS as you would any digital image.
I'm sure we can accommadate all types of photograpy of this site. |

I still have my Minolta Dynax 5 film SLRs and a Yashica 124G medium format (6x6) TLR. I tried to sell one of the 5's (figured I don't need two film SLRs AND a DSLR!) but didn't get any takers - unfortunate, because it's a nice camera. Thought of giving it to a currently-cameraless friend, but I'm not confident he can afford film and processing at the moment so it could be a white elephant for him.
Also have a fair bit of Provia, NPH and a few other things sitting in the fridge - definitely not planning to sell it off!

Nope, just B&W. It uses cartridges with 12 photos.

I use a Canon EOS 5 - its awesome! They are going cheap these days. Mine was bought of e-bay for £100. Feels like a camera should, not lightweight!
I also use Olympus Mju-II 35mm compact. The lens quality on that is amazing.

| I still have a Nikon F2A, and a complete Koni/Rapid Omega 6x7 set up that I use as well as a number of old 40-70 year old folders (35mm through 5x7) that I'll get out occasionally to play with. |

The extra light is a consequence of the full frame nature of the camera - you need a 5D or a 1ds mkII !

I made a discovery at Costco the other day which may interest any 35mm shooters -- they will scan your already-developed and cut negatives for only 29 cents/frame to an archival CD.
Unlike the typical "Picture CD" you get at most one-hour places, these are scanned at 3078 x 2048 pixels (about 18MB uncompressed), the equivalent of a 6.3MP digital camera. This is almost as good as the original Kodak PhotoCD's. |
