I haven't tried Motion Panning yet. I know what it is and I know there is a bit of an exposure trick to it but I dont know what the tricks really are. I seem to either get all blur or stop action.

Who would be so kind as to add a tutorial to the tutorial section on motion panning? I would rather read that then get a bunch of links to websites that may not explain it as well or in laymans terms.

There's really not that much to it, especially when you shoot digital (instant feedback via LCD). Your shutter speed depends on the speed of the object and the proximity of it.. some subjects you might be able to pan with and still get blur at 1/200th or faster, while some you'll want to be at 1/10th or so. You'll also want to adjust for how much you want to blur the background.

Put the camera in M mode to eliminate the metering variable you would get in shutter priority, set the shutter, and adjust the aperture until you read a correct exposure. Then take the photo, check the LCD, do it again, repeat as desired.
