I now have my Finepix F700.

Collected it today with a 512MB xD card plus a couple of other goodies.

Because it was actually a work day no real chance to try it out but I think I will tote with me tomorrow whilst I am out and about.

Now, I think I have found a bit of conflicting info about the ways to download the images to the PC (using FinePix viewer). If you use just the USB cable it simply says connect the cable and switch the camera on - when finished turn the camera off and disconnect the cable.

OK with me so far. If you use the cradle with the connected USB cable you switch on the cradle and that activates the camera and starts the transfer process BUT for removing/disconnecting the camera you switch off the cradle/camera AND turn off the PC - it refers you to page 87 where no further mention is made of the cradle only details to note about what to do with each operating system (mine is Win98se).

So the question is can you leave the USB cable connected to the cradle and switch the cradle off i.e. camera in charging mode & off THEN remove the camera as needed? The instructions about connecting to the TV simply say turn the cradle off and remove the camera.

I do not want to cause a problem to the camera but what do you do with your Fuji (any model???) and it's cradle?

Hi Laurence, and congrats on a great little camera. My husband is the other person on this site that has it :) I just quizzed him about his use of the camera and cradle and connection. He hasn't had the camera very long yet (a couple of weeks), but the following has worked for him so far:

He has the cradle connected to the computer at all times. To download the pictures, he just sticks the camera in the cradle and turns the cradle on. When he is done, he just turns the cradle off and either removes the camera or leaves it in the cradle to charge the battery.

Personally, I think removing the USB cable every time is not required, but of course I'm not an official Fujifilm representative :)

Good luck!
