I was wondering if anybody(or Gary himself) know how to achive this type of image If anybody is wondering: why? is just for learning interest.

well... many many many layers, and switching the opacities around. Theres the photo of the lady on the beach, the each baloon im usuming is on its own layer, the the birds are on their own layer, and then the cloth on the background is its own layer.
Layers are one of the strongest tools in PS, and mastering them is a long hard road, but it is very imporatant.

Like Dan says, whole'lotta photoshop. Nice job on managing multiple layers and masks, along with a good artistic eye.

I think the woman with the umbrella is on a layer all her own and it was shot in a studio. The beach might have been a backdrop, more likely though, it was a solid color that was replaced with the beach scene.

Just guessin...

All layers though. I wish I had the extra green to buy CS2 so that I could start doing much more advanced work like this. GIMP2 and Photoshop Elements 2 only go so far.

i undersand that it's more than one layer, but how did Gary make the women, the birds and the ballon seem animated.

Dang, I just thought it was a photo of an illustration under glass, with some clouds and other stuff reflected in it. I had no idea it was so complex ...
