Its awesome neat what you guys did with this. But I'm missing how you decided what to do - do you just play around with it or are there other indications ? How do you know to do a

high pass
auto color
despeckle
hue sat
curves.
*********
and which other cases might it be relevant in ?

And while doing the curves - how do you know to get that curve shape in ? (I guess I mean is there a curves tutorial to help me out ?)

I guess I'm a little behind the curves here ..

Sharpening should be done as close to the beginning of the workflow as possible as other processed can introduce noise which sharpening enhances.

A general order could be:

Noise reduction
sharpen
curves
shadow/highlight
other pp
resize
sharpen

I try curves on pretty much all shots to see if there's a difference. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't. Shadow/highlight is used on images where there is a wide range between the highlights and the shadows.

Those were my questions too. I am in awe at what some people can do in post processing. There sure are some great examples here.
