I just called their 800# from work and it is Wah-Com not Way-Com.

Hope this helps!

The reason these are so popular with SC (Smitage Committee) members is that the pronunciation most nearly resembles one of our favorite instructions: Whack 'em!

I bought one when I asked a friend how they were. First day almost chunked it out the window second day .started to box it up third day did my first real edit with it. I have learned to use the pin and my (mouse) in unisin and can not get along without it. If you think back far enough and are old enough to have been alive back then We once never used a mouse and now if you take it away you would be lost. kind of crazy just a little learning curve

I rang their local office here and they also said that the pronunciation is wah-com - wah rhyming with far, car, bar, star, etc.; com rhyming with Tom, ROM, etc. The "wah" is a bit longer than the "com", but there is equal emphasis on both syllables, i.e. it isn't WAHcom. The wa- is a Japanese word and hence inherits the Japanese pronunciation.

Sorry, I couldn't find phonetic symbols to insert. :(

Maybe it's my lack of accent but those don't rhyme.

anything ending in ar would rhym with far, car, bar, star etc ;)

i have the A6 Wacom (Wah-com) (i guess thats the 4x6 to u non conformists ;) )

the size of the tablet pretty much rests on how u use your arm to draw.. if you use your whole arm to draw then you'll need something A4+, if you only use your wrist then the A6/5 will do you just fine :)

painted in Photoshop with ref - 10hrs..

I just got a 4X6 Wacom tablet 2 weeks ago. I finally got around to installing it last night! After a few minutes of playing around with it, I'm sold!! As I do all of my editing on a laptop, I can certainly see how this will make my life sooooooo much easier!

Has anyone tried drawing vectors with a tablet? I was wondering if i got a intuous hooked up to something like corel painter which has great stylus support if i could literally draw out a curve and then edit it as a bezier. It would be so helpful for masking or hard line edges. As it is beziers are nice but take a lot of time to draw out with a SW pen tool. It would be great to draw the curve like a trace then fine tune it with the SW. Any input???

its much faster to draw paths with a tablet, you have more pixel control than with a mouse..

drawing single points and then pulling out the curve handles is much more economic than drawing a line and letting photoshop put 10 or so points for something that would prolly take 2 or 3..

The whole point of Bezier Curves is to form mathematically-pure curves using control points instead of drawing freehand. In Photoshop, you should be able to draw freehand using the lasso selection tool, then in the Paths window select "Make Work Path" and proceed from there.

thats a really bad way of making paths, Photoshop will add more points than is needed..

sounds like a yes Bobster..thats very kool. I know how the pixel vs vector thing works but i have not had a tablet yet to actually draw the path out and fine tune it. im gonna order one this week. thats excellant. too many hours have been spent drawing border vector lines in Draw then exporting into photoshop. i used to draw and ink manually with pen and paper (like a final cartoon outline) this will be very handy. CHeers!

you'll find using Quick Mask much easier with the tablet, and with pressure control, masking those tricky hairs will become a pleasure ;)

how does a 6x11 tablet sound for my 17" widescreen laptop? Does the work area feel much different than a 6x8?

My boyfriend does computer animation and uses the wacom tablet for all of his 3d characters and photoshop art. I steal it every once in a while... it did take a while to get used to it but I LOVE it, it's so nice.

If at all possible, I'd say go bigger than 4x6.

This is one of my favorite drawings of his... he was in this daily sketch group with themes (a lot like DPchallenge!) and the theme was "horse larvae"
